Biography
In 1934 Robert Pirie won Silver and Bronze in the freestyle events at the British Empire Games and at the 1938 British Empire Games won Gold in the 110yd, 440yd freestyle events and won Silver at the 1650yd freestyle race. Robert was a member of the Canadian 1936 Olympic Team and by 1939 he held every Canadian swimming title from 50 yards to 2 miles including the world record in the 200m. In 1939 the year he was awarded the Lou Marsh Memorial Award as Canada’s Top Athlete of the Year.
